Dear Angela Burns, I am writing to invite your comment in respect of
the growing concerns across the UK in respect of EMR (electro-magnetic
radiation) and in particular to microwave radiation emissions from the thousands
of TETRA transmitters. Penally village has a cluster of masts and transmitters
uon the fringe of our village with a new TETRA transmitter sited 75 metres from
the Wheelabout.
A substantial amount of related information can be
viewed on the Penally Village Community web site -
and the specific pages displayed on -
The TETRA menu displays link options, including
A.M. Attitudes, which will display this document along with any related material
such as your response. Comments from other individuals from the political arena
can also be viewed there.
Thanking you in anticipation of a
reply.

Dear Mr Robinson
Thank you for your email regarding TETRA Transmitters
in general and the siting of one in Penally in particular.
My position has not changed from last summer when I
categorically said that I was concerned with the manner that the TETRA
installation had been conducted in Penally.
My view, and it is the reason I stood for office in May
2007, is that Government with a big G too often overrides the concerns and
wishes of local people. Take the case of the threat to close Withybush Hospital.
It was a vastly unpopular move, it was not stacked up financially as a proposal
and it was going to go ahead no matter what the local population
wanted.
The same is true of the TETRA mast in Penally. I
believe that people are looking to control and manage their own lives and their
own environments and that it is the job of Government both national and local to
govern with a light hand. In the case of the siting of this mast I fail to see
why it has to be there. I have asked for further information on why it could not
be sited away from the village and when I receive a response I shall update
you.
With regards to the safety of TETRA masts and the issue
of electro-magnetic radiation this is not a subject that I am familiar
with. I do not and will not accept wholesale anybody else's arguments on a topic
I have had little or no exposure to, I do not wish to be badgered into an
opinion. I prefer to read, digest and draw my own conclusions. I am sure that
you appreciate that this method of working gives an enormous reading pile on
many subjects and when I am confident of the pros and cons on electro magnetic
radiation I would be delighted to discuss.
Kind regards
