Non-Ionizing Electromagnetic Radiation

ES-UK

ES-UK is a co-operative grouping of electrosensitives and scientists working together.
A Charitable Trust registered with the Charity Commission, number 1103018. We support those made ill by electromagnetic fields/RF/microwaves with information about the condition known as electrical sensitivity (ES), or hypersensitivity (EHS), for members of the general public, the medical professions and the legislators. We also offer practical advice based on the expertise of our scientific and medical advisers, and of people who are finding ways of coping with their electrical sensitivity. Awareness and recognition of this ill-health reaction is urgently needed. This site is regularly updated, especially the 'This Week, News Update page'

Radiation Research Trust

The purpose of this web site - and of the EM Radiation Research Trust itself - is to turn that situation around, to uncover and communicate the facts concerning electro-magnetic radiation and our health

Health & Safety Executive

UK Law

There are no specific legal provisions covering non-ionising radiation

Control of exposure is governed by the general provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. When assessing compliance with this legislation, HSE’s Inspectors refer to the guidelines for restrictions on exposure to electromagnetic fields produced by the former National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) now the Health Protection Agency/Radiation Protection Division (HPA/RP) and to international standards for optical radiation published by the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP).

International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection

There will be new regulations on electromagnetic fields coming into force in April 2008 to implement the Electromagnetic Fields Directive. Regulations implementing the recently adopted Optical Radiation Directive will be in place by April 2010.

Electropollution

USA Backfire 2007 - Dr. George Carlo was the scientist funded with $25 million by the cell phone industry to research cell phone radiation and to prove through scientific studies that the phones are safe.

After six years of study Dr. Carlo determined that cell phone radiation disrupted heart pacemakers, damaged the blood-brain barrier, penetrates the skulls of children and does genetic damage that can result in cancer.

Dr. Carlo presented these findings to the cell phone industry and when he refused to recant the findings his research funds were cut-off and a publicity campaign to discredit him was put in effect.

Dr. Carlo is extremely concerned about public health and has gone public with his information in the book:

SCRAM

A Charitable Trust Web Site

The aims and objectives of SCRAM are as follows:
To Support residents to make informed decisions regarding mobile phone masts near to them and their families.
To increase public awareness of the possible health hazards.
To campaign for the government to institute appropriate investigation into the gaps in the knowledge of health implications.
To lobby for thorough independent research and to put a stop to further expansion until such time as investigations are concluded.
To press for existing masts to be moved away from private homes, school, hospitals and other sensitive properties.
To press for a government campaign to inform the public, particularly our children, of the possible health risk associated with the personal use of a mobile phone.
To make Government, Industry, Landlords and Property Owners accountable.
