County Councillor Carol
Cavill's Report
May 2009
Penally court Caravan Site
I
have spoken to the General Manager of Kiln Park regarding the
overhanging
brambles opposite the Old vicarage and she has agreed
to have them cut back.
This has now been completed.
Land
adjacent to Middlewalls Lane
This is an on-going problem and
some members of this Council will remember
that some years ago, at
my request, the County Council made a detailed
search into the
ownership of this land but no ownership could be proved. As
a
one off gesture, the County council agreed to clear and tidy this
land on
a one off occasion. The future condition of this
land would then be a
matter for the residents in the vicinity.
A
recent complaint about the state of this land has been made to Cllr
Adams
(who is unavoidably unable to attend this meeting).
Cllr Adams has been in
touch with the Probation Service who are
prepared, providing the risk
assessment they will carry out is
positive, to provide a team from the
Community service to clear up
this site at no cost to the Community Council.
If there are
any other such sites within the ward boundary that this Council
feels
would benefit from this service, they could be assessed at the
same
time
Trees opposite Crackwell Caravan Site
The
dangerous overhanging trees have now been cut down by the
railway
company after notice had been served on them by the County
Council.
Pedestrian Safety
It has been suggested to me
that pedestrians, in particular visitors,
walking towards the Kiln
Park end of the village would be safer if there was
a sign
pointing them down Four Winds Lane to meet the path on the
by-pass,
rather than walk on the road passed the nightclub where
there is no pavement
and the road is narrow and with bends.
I have spoken to the officer
concerned and he is happy to look
into this.
Local Development Plan
The deposit edition
of this plan will not be available until early 2010 when
everyone
will have an opportunity to place their opinions. However,
the
relevant Community Councils will be consulted concerning
strategic sites in
their ward before this date. The JUDP is still
the authorised document at
this moment.
BT pay phones
It
has been confirmed that the BT payphone outside Penally Army
Training
Camp will be removed. The Army has no objection to
this as there are
sufficient facilities within the camp.
