County Councillor Carol Cavill’s Report
March 2008
Bus Shelter near the Church
The light in this shelter must date back to pre-Pembrokeshire days as it is the policy of Pembrokeshire County Council not to light bus shelters and consequently they will not take responsibility for it.
Hedgerow, Penally Court site of Kiln Park
There have been several changes of personnel since the last planning permission was given and consequently the detailed planting scheme which was a condition of the planning permission has been lost. Since the cutting of the trees on the by-pass hedge, the Enforcement Officer and the Tree Officer visited the then General Manager and gave advice. However, there is now a new General Manager who was unaware of the past history of the site. The Enforcement Officer has been in touch with her and so have I and a new planting scheme will be submitted.
Under the original scheme there was to be a phased removal of the Leylandi bordering School Lane after other more natural low growing species had been established. It seems that the senior management at the headquarters of this organisation knew nothing of the terms of the planning conditions and wrote in reply to local residents that they would agree to keeping the Leylandi at a height of 6’. The new General Manager, when shown this letter, not yet having been made aware of the planning conditions, immediately acted upon it.
Since then, I have been approached by several residents along the village road who would like the hedge on the by-pass and a few trees on the site to be trimmed as they lose their view. I accompanied the General Manager and site manager around the site and to several properties so that they could see exactly what was needed. They have agreed to trim the hedgerow but to keep it to a level where the caravans are still screened from the by-pass. They realise they have to do this very soon, before the birds start nesting. They will also reduce the height of several evergreens on the site.
Holloway Court Bus Stop
The flush kerb from the path at Holloway at the bus stop has now been completed.
Footpaths
I have received a notice from the PCNP regarding the one day closure of the footpath across the fields used by Lydstep Point to Point on 24 March 2008
Information on the various footpaths around Penally is to be produced in a new leaflet. Local residents and PLANED are involved in this.
